Tight, catchy, succinct, and loud are the best words for Commercial Breaks. Formed in 2025 by a gaggle of rockers and co-conspirators, the group features Lucas Martins, Trey Gutierrez and David Rawlinson, all of whom back Gus Baldwin as “The Sketch” as well as Doran Rawlinson, former drummer of Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band. The members have performed around Austin for many years but never in such a hook-driven, song-forward capacity. Their debut record out Q4 2025 was recorded entirely at home to cassette tape to ensure absolute commercial viability, and their live shows pursue the title of either Austin’s “Loudest Pop Group” or “Pop-est Loud Group”.
